For 40 years, collegiate teams have been competing in Formula SAE, where North American and International teams take on the competition at the Michigan International Speedway. 120 University Collegiate Design Teams compete in both Static and Dynamic events that make up points for an overall score. Static events include: Cost, Design, and Business Case Logic . Dynamic events include: Acceleration, Skid Pad, Autocross, and Endurance. To win teams have to excel in dynamic and static events.TN Tech Motorsports takes into consideration and optimizes the overall design based on the business case direction, costing, and design effectiveness. 

Each year TN Tech Motorsports takes on the endeavors of planning, designing, building, and racing a rules compliant Formula SAE car with 25 team members and 365 days of hard work. It is necessary that the car be completed early on to ensure time for race testing, driver training, and verification of design. 

TN Tech Motorsports splits its members into sub-teams for each static event and unique pair of drivers for each race. During the year, each of these sub-teams have their own meetings to discuss operations, and they do not interfere with the other sub-teams. The business team sets up sessions with experts to judge the presentation and provide constructive feedback. The design team members work on their specialized area’s data and simulations. TN Tech Motorsports has a reputation of pulling attention from many teams during their time at Michigan. No other team can compete with the fit and finish of TN Tech Motorsports. 

Each year Tennessee Tech Motorsports offers an invitation to become a Tech collegiate design team sponsor. The Formula FSAE collegiate design program introduces undergraduate and graduate students from all engineering disciplines the opportunity to gain valuable confidence and team experience using hands-on learning experiences. Without the support of our sponsors, we would not be able to extend our fabrication capabilities with new equipment and tooling.
